Join us for Taste of Talent's season opener "A Golden New Year" celebrating Rosh Hashanah in the vibrant Green Room on Thursday September 7!
Experience the extraordinary vocal talents of countertenor Aryeh Nussbaum Cohen, baritone Simon Barrad and tenor Victor Cardamone alongside Elizabeth Castro Greenberg on violin, Jesse Rex Barrett on oboe and english horn, Jonathan Szin on clarinet and Ronny Michael Greenberg at the piano and hosting.
This incredible group will get you feeling the spirit of the high holidays like never before with festive and soulful arrangements of Klezmer songs, timeless gems by Mahler and Vaughan Williams, traditional Jewish songs with fresh arrangements and genres symbolizing the spirit of new beginnings including a "Cohen Medley" and the Hamilton version of Adon Olam!
Special guest Francesco Spagnolo, Curator of The Magnes Collection of Jewish Art and Life at UC Berkeley and Associate Adjunct Professor in the Department of Music and the Center for Jewish Studies, will be joining us to present a very special set of songs from the Jewish Italian tradition. These include music by Renaissance Jewish Italian composer Salamone Rossi, an iconic prayer from Sukkot as performed in northern Italian synagogues transcribed by Francesco himself, and a Rossini tarantella arranged with a fun "Rosh Hashanah"twist!
This rich program wouldn’t be complete without equally delicious Jewish traditional food, spiced apple sangria, honey cocktails, and baked goods.
We look forward to celebrating with you!
